Professor Stefano Zunarelli is one of the most renowned European academics in the field of transportation law, air law and maritime law. He has always been accustomed to international contexts and, aside from teaching at the University of Bologna, he has taught, as visiting Professor, at many foreign universities.


Regina Asariotis is Chief of the Policy and Legislation Section in the Division on Technology and Logistics of UNCTAD, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, where she is responsible for the Secretariat’s mandated work in the field of transport law and policy, including research and analysis, technical cooperation and intergovernmental policy dialogue and negotiations. Dieter Schwampe is Professor of Law at the University of Hamburg in the field of maritime insurance law and transport law. He studied in Konstanz, Bonn and Hamburg, had legal clerkship in Hamburg (1981-1984) and obtained his PhD in law in 1984. He was admitted to the German Bar in 1985 and joined Arnecke Sibeth Dabelstein law firm in 1985.


Dr. Timagenis is the founding and senior partner of Timagenis Law Firm. He received his Degree in Law (LL.B.) from the University of Athens, 1969 – First Class Honours; Degree in Economics and Political Sciences from the University of Athens, 1971; he has a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in Maritime Law and Law of the Sea from UCL, University of London 1972; and he is Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the Law of the Sea from the University of London, 1979.


Dr. Loukas Zygouros is a specialized Maritime Lawyer, entitled to plead before the Court of Appeal. He is a member of Athens Bar Association. He obtained his LL.B. and his PhD in the field of Maritime Law from Athens Law School and his LL.M. in Maritime Law from Cardiff University, U.K. He is a visiting speaker in Salvage Law and Carriage of Goods by sea in the LL.M. program of Athens Law School. He is also a Lecturer in Maritime Law in Athens University of Economics and Business (MSc in International Shipping, Finance and Management) from 2017. The main fields of his legal practice include Litigation and Legal Consultation both to individuals and legal entities in the fields of Civil, Commercial and Maritime Law.


Gaël Piette is Professor of maritime law, insurance law and contract law at the University of Bordeaux and researcher at CRDEI (Centre de Recherche et de Documentation Européennes et Internationales, Université de Bordeaux) and at IRJS (Institut de Recherche Juridique de la Sorbonne, département Sorbonne-Affaires-Finance, Université Paris 1 – Panthéon Sorbonne).


Dr. Manolis Konstantinidis is the manager of the Legal Department of Eastern Mediterranean Maritime Limited, which currently manages 80 vessels. He mainly deals with charterparty disputes, which are in principle arbitrated at LMAA and/ or before local courts all over the world, and cargo claims. He has also dealt with S&P disputes, shipbuilding contracts and corporate financing matters/ disputes.


George Gerapetritis is Minister for Cabinet and Professor of Constitutional Law at the Law School of the University of Athens. He studied in Athens (LL.B.), Edinburgh (LL.M.) and Oxford (D.Phil). He has been a visiting fellow at the University of Oxford and of London (London School of Economics και Institute of Advanced Legal Studies). He has been Fellow of the State Scholarships Foundation of Greece, of the British Council, of the US German Marshall Fund and of the French Council of State.


José Maura joined the International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds (IOPC Funds) as a Claims Manager in 1996. He became the Head of the Claims Department in 2002 handling major oil spills incidents such as the Aegean Sea (Spain), Sea Empress (United Kingdom), Nissos Amorgos (Venezuela), Erika (France) and Prestige (Spain & France) oil spill incidents. In 2010 he was appointed Acting Director and in 2011 he was elected Director of the IOPC Funds, while in 2016 he was reappointed for a second term.
